My husband is supposed to have back surgery to remove a slipped disc. He's afraid because he heard of several people who just had the same problem again. What can I tell him?

It is true that some people who have surgery may have a repeat slipped, or herniated disc, later on. However, research has shows that it is a particular type of slipped disc that has the highest risk of recurring and that is the protruding disc. Looking at the statistics, over 90 percent of young men, between the ages of 20 and 40 years did not have a recurrence of a herniated disc. Have your husband speak about his concerns with this doctor as that is really the best solution.
