What seems to be the main causes of subsequent fracture after percutaneous vertebroplasty?

The authors of a recent study evaluated several different factors. They concluded that cement leakage into the intradiscal region, lower body mass index and weight were risk factors for adjacent level subsequent fracture. Heavier patients with osteoporotic bone, as well as motion gradient appear to be risk factors for nonadjacent level subsequent fracture.
