My neighbor has what the doctor called a claw hand. What is that? He wasn't born like that.

A claw hand is given that name because the fingers of the hand begin to bend and the hand looks like an animal claw. People can be born with this deformity, or it can happen later in life. When it happens later on in life, the nerves in the fingers are damaged and the tendons of the fingers begin to contract and pull the fingers towards the palm of the hand.
