I've been preparing for the upcoming soccer season. My coach tells us to stretch before the season begins. Which muscles are most important to stretch to prevent injuries?

Most soccer injuries occur in the legs, especially the hip and groin area. A study of professional soccer players in Belgium found that the hamstrings and quadriceps are most important. Tightness or lack of flexibility of these two muscles can increase a player’s risk of injury. Researchers are still debating whether stretching prevents injuries. Data from some new studies shows that stretching after a workout is actually better. Watch here for more details of these studies.
