My aunt is in her sixties and she was diagnosed with something called cervical compression myelopathy and she had to have surgery for it. She had pain in her neck but no other symptoms that I know about. What is the danger (her surgery was a rush) and are there other symptoms?

Cervical compression myelopathy is a condition that puts pressure on the vertebrae (bones) in the neck, also called the cervical spine. The symptoms of cervical compression myelopathy can include: Stiffness in the neck Pain in the arm Numb hands Weakness in arms and legs Stiff legs Difficulty walking Loss of control of bladder or bowels If the problem causing the compression continues, the symptoms can get worse and could become irreversible.
