I had a torn meniscus repaired about six months ago. The knee on that side seems "normal" to me. How do I know when it's fully healed?

We judge this based on the results of studies done after meniscus repair. An arthroscope is used to go inside the knee and take a "second look" after the first operation.

Normal healing takes about six to eight weeks. Full strength comes back in 12 to 18 months. If the patient doesn't want to have an arthroscopy, MRIs can also judge meniscus healing.
